Brass Bands
2020 and so far 2021 are proving to be difficult and different!!!! What was once celebrated in 4 hours is now reproduced into four events to honor our cultural traditions. No route sheet this year but a sincere message from our hearts.
VIP Ladies and Kids SAPC will, however., rise to the occasion and celebrate our 18th anniversary by uniquely restructuring it into a series of events. We will kick off our anniversary with the VIP Fest pop-up at Longue Vue House and Gardens. The pandemic has changed our lives and the way we celebrate our cultural heritage, but we are resilient and will not let the culture die.
We were able to parade last year before the news of Coronavirus and its devastating effects made mainstream media. In fact, three of our members contracted the virus which caused us to reflect back on our decision to parade and whether or not it was the best choice. But we were working with limited information and chose from our hearts. We are prepared this year to take the appropriate actions and feel confident that the plans we have constructed adhere to the information we have at hand. Each day we live wondering what the future holds for us as well as the culture. The pandemic has reminded us that things can change instantaneously. With so much uncertainty, financial constraints, and questions, are drivers of lifelong decisions related to the pandemic now more than ever. We need to band together for the greater good of our communities, organization but especially the culture. We survived Hurricane Katrina and we will prevail over COVID-19.
